Another Day - Epilogue

Four months had passed since it had all ended. Summer had drawn to a close and autumn started to turn the leaves golden browns and dark reds. Daniel and Shannon had been buried next one of the last trees that hadn't been destroyed by the blast. As they stood over the graves, Luna, Kassi and Matt placed a single apple on the graves.

"Can you believe it's been four months?" asked Luna as she smiled softly.

"I can" replied Kassi, stroking her stomach, her bump clearly visible now.

"Four months... it feels longer" said Matt, slightly frowning as he did.

"It's been too long since we last saw them anyway" replied Luna, walking over to the graves.

"We've missed you. We wish you were both still here, along with all the others. We buried Noah in the garden of the large house but not before we buried you two here. We're really sorry we haven't visited more often but we've been travelling. We finally found a small settlement. There are about twenty others and they've been really nice to us. But now that we've found them, we're going to come here more often" said Luna, smiling as she talked to the graves "I don't know why I'm telling you this, I guess I just wanted you to know we're safe, just the way you wanted for all of us, free of Samuel and anybody else who'd want to harm us"

"Thank you, your deaths weren't in vain. Nobody's were. We made sure of that" said Kassi, breaking a tear as she smiled, remembering what everyone had done to keep each other safe.

As the group started to walk away, Kassi gasped and quickly turned around, walking towards to the grave. She then reached into to her bag and was about to place down an item on the grave. As she struggled, unable to kneel because of the baby, Matt walked over to her, taking the item from her hand.

"How long have you had this?" he asked, staring at it.

"Since the day of the blast, I was going to show it everyone but I never thought of the right time to show it. I thought it would be best to put it down here, in memory of everybody" Kassi replied, a happy look in her eyes as she looked at it.

"I think that's a good idea" Luna commented, before she stepped back as Matt bent down, placing the object on the ground before they walked away.

Kassi took one look back before she left, the item she placed down being a group photo of all the friends smiling just days before the bombs.
