Investigation 52 - Chapter 3

"You still haven't told me what the fuck you've done to me!" Daniel screamed at Matt.

"What I've done! I've not- Look! We have to get out of here quickly!" Matt replied, picking himself off the ground "You can teleport us to the hideout, right?"

"Ummm..."

"Please tell me you can teleport us out of here."

"I don't know how."

"WHAT! What do you mean you don't know how! You got out of that building just fine!"

"I don't know how I even did that! One second I'm in my office, the next I'm standing here!"

Matt paced around the car, rubbing his head after he had been hit. "Great, we'll have to take the car."

"WHAT! There's no way I can drive that! We'll be spotted! Besides, I know that ILEA can keep track of agent's cars when the car battery is on. You don't think they'll be doing that now when I'm wanted for god-knows-what crimes I've suppose to have committed."

"Listen to me Daniel, we can ditch the car when we're near the hideout. Crash it, burn it, blown it up. Anything. But right now, you have to trust me that only me and my family can help you."

"Family?"

"We'll explain everything when we get back to the hideout."

The car was zooming towards the address that Matt had given Daniel, swerving in and out of traffic at two hundred miles per hour. The midday traffic was light but still posed as a problem if they didn't get around it. Daniel's ILEA system then rang.

"Shit!" he thought "I forgot to turn it off."

Voicing the command, Daniel answered the phone.

"Hello, who is this?"

"Daniel? It's Jasmine. Don't worry; we're on a secure line. What the hell is going on?"

"I don't know! Why were there armed SWAT in the building!"

"They came to arrest you, the forensics found your fingerprints on the latest Investigation 52 body! You've been named a murderer!"

"That's impossible! I didn't even touch the body!"

"I know you didn't, I keep trying to tell them that you were with me when the murder occurred but they keep denying it, saying that I'm just covering up for you."

A silence was in the car as both Daniel and Matt stared at the phone in disbelief before Jasmine started to speak again.

"I have to go; someone will be looking for me soon to take a statement about the events that happened. We'll talk later."

*CLICK!*

The phone silenced as the call ended. Daniel drove the car to the place that Matt had told him to before they exited. Matt then pulled out a can of hairspray, spreading the contents on the passenger's seat before he pulled out a match, lit it and threw it onto the seat. The interior burst into flames, four hundred thousand dollars worth of technology destroyed by a two dollars, ninety nine cents can of hairspray. Matt then started to talk to Daniel.

"Someone's set you up."

"I know that" replied Daniel "No one can prove it though."

"I can because I know who killed that man."
