It's a simple fact that in most RPGs, Bards are usually the worst class. If your weapon is a musical instrument, it doesn't really bode well for you I'm afraid.

On the other hand, it would certainly make a lot more sense where the victory fanfares comes from if you have a bard in your party.

They're only good for boosting all your other classes with their skill tree. Apart from that, they usually have very low health without any kind of payoff. Not so much of a glass cannon as much as a glass rock.

I'm doing a follow up to this now and have put special care into the next tshirt

Minstrel pretty much is the bards class of Dragon Quest but it's more of a Jack of All Trades mixed with the traditional Bard. I used to play Final Fantasy XI and I can tell you that Bards were one of the few class that if I saw were usually on the brink of death.

And I was a White Mage. Take from that what you will.
